The new trees are planted between November and March, when the young trees are in vegetative rest, avoiding only the periods of intense frost. The use of Euro-American clones (I214, neva, beaupré, etc.), thanks to their high rooting abilities, allows planting to be carried out even in winter.
In any case, the period between the eradication from the nursery and the planting should be minimised. Before being planted, the poplars are soaked in water, totally or only in the basal portions, for at least ten days.
Before starting the planting operations, the soil must be carefully prepared and treated.
