In general, artificial woods such as poplar groves do not imply any particular protection emergencies; however, they have great naturalistic importance due to their particular location, near streams and the Po river: the possibility of interacting with other river areas and the neighbouring wetlands offers the opportunity for migrations and movements for numerous species of fauna and the spread of flora.
To safeguard endangered species and their habitats, these measures have been implemented:
- identification of endangered fauna and flora through the CITES and WWF lists as well as lists of the SIC and ZPS zones in the areas pertaining to the farm;
- identification of sensitive areas (nesting, reproduction, feeding areas);
- definition of the procedures to be applied in forestry activities in these areas.
In general, before carrying out any intervention that may affect the fauna and flora, we check that there are no nests under construction (in this case, any intervention is postponed) and tell operators and visitors how to behave to reduce their impact on the environment.
